Manchester United sacked their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and Sky Sports reports that Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino is their top candidate to replace the fired tactician.
With speculation over the possibility of pursuing the 49-year-old, Sky Sports’ Gary Neville spoke about Manchester United’s interest in Pochettino. The Premier League pundit stated that he believes the PSG manager would leave the French capital to take over the role with the Red Devils.
“I think Mauricio Pochettino – although he’d never say it – he’d leave to come to Man Utd on a five-year deal tomorrow. He’d look at that group of players, he’d look at the club, and he’d realize he’d probably be able to achieve more than he wants at Man Utd in terms of a project,” Neville said on Sky Sports.
“At PSG, you are on season by season. You’ve got to win the Champions League, or you’re out type of model. I don’t think that suits Pochettino. I think he would absolutely come to Man Utd on a five-year deal, with backing behind him. How he’d fit in with the current coaches who are still there and left, I’m not sure.”
PSG has no plans to sack or let Pochettino leave the Ligue 1 side. Les Parisiens will wait until the UEFA Champions League campaign is over to assess Pochettino and whether he’s the manager to lead the French giants.
