Paris Saint-Germain forwards Lionel Messi and Neymar have not shared the pitch together as much so far this season. But when they have, the two star talents have put out for promising performances, including in PSG’s UEFA Champions League home group stage win over Manchester City.
Longtime Brazilian midfielder Ronaldinho is much a fan of seeing the two team up at one of his former clubs. And considering that they each are on-ball playmakers, Ronaldinho also sees plenty of potential for the two at the French powerhouse, which he elaborated further in speaking to PSG TV.
“It’s wonderful to see two friends, two of the greatest players in history together at this club where I also got to play,” Ronaldinho said. “They’re both number 10s, so it’s even better. It’s wonderful to see these two countries represented here.
“Unfortunately, you can’t have two number 10s on the field. But I’m very flattered and proud to see them wearing that jersey of a team I was able to play on.”
It will be noteworthy to see whether the two will share the pitch together in PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against longtime rival Olympique de Marseille. Neymar missed PSG’s Champions League group stage fixture against RB Leipzig due to injury, so much attention will be centered on whether he may be fit in time for this upcoming matchup.
