Paris Saint-Germain will return from the ongoing September international break with a pivotal Ligue 1 fixture against Clermont Foot. However, the French powerhouse may be without its main attacking trio for the match.
As noted by RMC Sport, Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are early doubts for this upcoming league matchup.
Messi and Neymar are not dealing with any injury. But as Messi (Argentina) and Neymar (Brazil) are slated to feature with their respective national teams in 2022 World Cup qualifying action on Thursday, they may not be called upon to join PSG for the match against Clermont two days later.
Mbappe is dealing with an injury, as the forward is currently recovering from the minor calf injury that he recently suffered during the French national team’s notable matchup against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At the least, this trio may be available for PSG’s UEFA Champions League group stage opener, which will come against Belgian side Club Brugge next week.
PSG currently stands in first place in the league standings with 12 points.
