At the end of the match between Olympique Lyonnais and Troyes, midfielder Lucas Paqueta took a yellow card following a dribble attempt. Some have understood that it is because of the referee’s technical gesture Stéphane Frappart gave the warning.
Often on the end of these controversies for his flair out in Ligue 1, Neymar reacted to this sanction against his Brazilian compatriot on an Instagram story post.
“This scene is very sad, taking a yellow card because of a dribble… The technical gesture is a solution, no matter where it is performed on the field and no matter the minute in which it is done. That’s what happened to me last season,” Neymar wrote.
“And this year, it’s happening to Paqueta. Honestly, I don’t understand the reasons. The famous Joga Bonito is finished. Take advantage while there is still time.”
Ligue 1 has long had these issues of putting their more talented players in the forefront, which is why it remains behind some of the better leagues in Europe.
