Messi, Mbappe and Donnarumma Finished in the Top 10 for the 2020-2021 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award

Paris Saint-Germain talents Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Gianluigi Donnarumma rounded out in the top 10 for the 2020/2021 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award.

Both Messi and Mbappe had standout campaigns in all competitions last season. Messi (La Liga) and Mbappe (Ligue 1) won the top goal-scorer award in their respective leagues, and they each had impressive performances along the way in UEFA Champions League play.

More so, Donnarumma shined for the Italian national team in Euro 2020 as he won the Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament award.

To the surprise of many, this trio of players did not rank in the top three for the 2020/21 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award. Messi (4th, 148 points), Donnarumma (6th, 49 points) and Mbappe (7th, 31 points) still finished in the top 10 for this award respectively.

It will be noteworthy to see on where each player will rank in the final vote for the 2021 Ballon d’Or award later this year. Messi is deemed as the favorite for this honor, while both Donnarumma and Mbappe have a realistic chance of finishing in the top five in the final vote.
