PSG Midfield Prospect Xavi Simons Named in Latest 2021 Golden Boy Award Shortlist

Paris Saint-Germain prospect Xavi Simons has been nominated for the 2021 Golden Boy award.

Simons is among 100 youth talents who are up for this annual honor. Fans are now able to vote for who should win this award on Tuttosport‘s official website, as the Italian-based outlet will then reveal a new shortlist later this year.

Simons may not be among the overwhelming favorites to win this award, but it is notable that he made this initial shortlist.

The Dutch prospect made his first career appearance with PSG this past season. Overall, he featured in a mere two matches in all competitions with PSG over the recent campaign, which included a 12-minute shift in the team’s Coupe de France third-round fixture against SM Caen.

Simons is well projected to earn more playing time minutes with PSG’s first-team next season. However, his future with the club remains a hot topic issue.

However, one recent report did note that PSG and Simons are in contact regarding a possible multiyear contract extension agreement.

Simons remains as PSG’s most coveted prospect and among the must-watch, young midfielders in Ligue 1.
