Aside from Kylian Mbappe’s extension dilemma this summer, Paris Saint-Germain officials will also have a major contract situation with current midfield prospect Xavi Simons.
The Dutch midfielder faces an uncertain future at PSG as he is set to become a free agent next summer. This will grant him the opportunity to leave yet another powerhouse European club as a free transfer.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano provided some exclusive details to PSG Talk regarding Simons’ current status at PSG.
For the moment, PSG and Simons’ agent, Mino Raiola, are in talks regarding a contract extension deal for the midfielder.
Romano notes that PSG currently stands “confident” of coming to terms on a new deal that would extend Simons’ stay at the club.
The former Barca midfielder totaled for a mere two appearances in all competitions with PSG this past season. He made his Ligue 1 debut under Mauricio Pochettino, although it came during a one-minute cameo in PSG’s away league fixture against Strasbourg.
Simons may be in line to earn more playing time minutes in the upcoming season, which would be a plus for his current development as a midfielder.
