Former French Forward Papin Analyzes How Wijnaldum Will Fit in Pochettino’s PSG

Former French forward Jean-Pierre Papin analyzed what midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum will bring to Paris Saint-Germain.

Wijnaldum joins PSG as the club’s biggest midfield signing in quite a while.

The longtime Premier League talent has plenty of experience playing in the biggest games in club football, which includes the notable deep UEFA Champions League knockout stage runs from over the years with Liverpool.

Papin much approves of PSG’s signing of Wijnaldum, as the former French international sees that the Dutch talent will have plenty to offer to manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Papin spoke further about Wijnaldum to Bein Sports France (via Le10Sport), where he also noted what Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said about the midfielder.

“Wijnaldum is technically adept, good in the recovery, in the passes, like the other midfielders of PSG,” Papin said. “But if there is one thing to say compared to the others, it is the speech of Jurgen Klopp. It makes me say that he is a player you can rely on. Klopp had words for him that were just exceptional.”

Wijnaldum will certainly offer versatility to PSG’s midfield setup, as he has what it takes to play as either a base or central attacking midfielder for the team.

For now, PSG’s coaching staff will surely continue to watch Wijnaldum feature with the Netherlands national team over the ongoing Euro 2020 tournament.
