The Neymar Jr. to FC Barcelona remains alive and well despite the 29-year-old have talks with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a contract extension. Joan Laporta, the Spanish club’s new president, wants to reunite Neymar and Lionel Messi.
However, Laporta must tread lightly as Catalunya Ràdio (via Diario AS) PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is warning Barcelona not to pursue the players. The report states that the French giants ask that the La Liga side leave Neymar in peace and not unsettled him by rumors of an imminent move. Still, it seems as though Laporta plans to ignore that threat.
Nonetheless, the Spanish club will continue pursuing a reunion between Neymar and Messi at Barcelona for the 2021-22 season. Laporta also isn’t seeing the return of Neymar as an on-the-pitch benefit. The president wants the economic perks that come with having the Brazil international.
PSG is linked to Barcelona’s Messi, and it will be interesting to see whether the capital club decides to make the 33-year-old an offer he can’t refuse. After years of the Spanish side wanting to take the French giants player’s the capital club decided to take Neymar in 2017.
Maybe history will repeat itself on this matter.
