Herrera Draws Comparisons Between Playing in the Premier League and Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ander Herrera detailed one key difference to playing in both the Premier League and Ligue 1.

Herrera is among a few active Paris Saint-Germain players who have previously played in the Premier League. The Spanish midfielder spent multiple seasons with Manchester United before departing for a move to PSG over the 2019 summer transfer window.

The Premier League is well lauded as a step above Ligue 1, but Herrera has his appreciation to what makes both leagues unique. The PSG midfielder spoke further to the Spanish-based outlet Marca about these two leagues within the top five in Europe.

“Ligue 1 is very physical,” Herrera said. There is little control and the games are back and forth.

“The Premier League is similar, it draws a lot of players from here. There are small differences, but whoever is good plays well everywhere.”

Herrera’s Premier League experience has certainly aided him over his ongoing PSG run, whether it is in being a leader within the team or simply with his midfield play.

Overall, there is plenty to appreciate with what these two leagues offer in terms of on-field play and the tactical battles that intrigue many football fans.
