Over the summer, Paris Saint-Germain was looking for a central defender to replace the outgoing Thiago Silva. Former manager Thomas Tuchel had a request, and that was for sporting director Leonardo to pursue Chelsea FC defender Antonio Rüdiger.
Both sides engaged in discussions, but ultimately, a deal for the 28-year-old never materialized. However, now Tuchel is his manager at Chelsea, so the German tactician got his request, to an extent.
During Rüdiger’s press conference with the media, Canal Supporters relayed the defender’s words about considering joining the capital club in the summer.
“There were two teams that. Actually, there was one team that I was thinking about, to be honest: it was PSG,” Rüdiger said. “It didn’t happen with Tuchel. I was a little disappointed because I knew my situation at Chelsea; I knew I wasn’t going to play a lot.”
