Video: ‘They Are Significant Favorites’ – Steve Mandanda on PSG Having the Upperhand Ahead of Le Classique

This weekend will see the third and possibly the final installment of Le Classique as Paris Saint-Germain travel to the Orange Vélodrome to take on Olympique de Marseille.

Earlier in the 2020-21 Ligue 1 season, Marseille ended a decade of dominance by PSG in the rivalry with their 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes. However, the capital club re-established its control over OM with a 2-1 victory in the Trophée des Champions

Ahead of the third matchup, Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda spoke to the media, where he first discussed the fixture against Les Parisiens

“We know the importance of this match. We know that Paris today is at a very high level, and we are in a difficult period. Now it’s still a match with 11 guys on each side. They are significant favorites; it’s up to us to make as few mistakes as possible and take advantage of our opportunities when we have the ball. We must give the maximum for our supporters,” Mandanda said.

“A blow to achieve against PSG? In the last two meetings, we showed a better face. We were more difficult to maneuver for them; after that, we remain aware of the opponent’s quality. It’s still football; it’s still a special match, we will give our maximum to win.”
