The UEFA Champions League first leg fixture between FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain is a few weeks away. Initially, Mundo Deportivo reported that Gerard Piqué would miss the two matches; however, it seems that report could be incorrect.
According to “Què t’hi jugues,” the 34-year-old targets the first leg on the 16th to make his return to the Spanish club’s starting eleven.
Piqué has been out of the Barça squad since November when he suffered a knee injury after a collision with Atlético Madrid’s Ángel Correa that flexed his right knee excessively.
Medical test later diagnosed the Spain international with a grade three sprain to the medial-lateral ligament and a partial injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The timetable for a return from such injury is five to six months, but Barça didn’t put a date on when Piqué would find his way back to the squad.
Nonetheless, it seems as though the central defender is ahead of schedule in his rehab and could return for the first leg against the capital club, which was initially in doubt.
