Paris Saint-Germain’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, appeared for the first time before the press ahead of their fixture against AS Saint-Étienne.
One of the first questions that the Argentine tactician answered is over his impressions of the two capital club superstars, Neymar Jr., and Kylian Mbappé.
During the press conference, where Canal Supporters relayed his words, Pochettino mentioned what’s instore for Neymar once he returns from injury.
“When he returns with the squad, we will have to find the position in which he performs better. It’s not just a system story. I don’t like to talk about the system. It’s more about animation, how the team behaves with or without the ball,” Pochettino said.
“For all players, it is necessary to find the positions so that they express their potential and help the team fight on all fronts. As for your leadership, I would say that there are several ways to express your leadership. The more leaders I have in my locker room and on the field, the better.”
Pochettio then transitioned over to discussing the 22-year-old, who will likely be one of the starting eleven for Les Parisiens when they take on Saint-Étienne.
“My first impression is that PSG has an incredible team, incredible players, but that is not news to anyone. Mbappé can play in different positions, on the side, on the axis, everywhere. Maybe it’s in a place at the start, and then it moves,” Pochettino said.
“The most important thing is how it behaves in spaces, how it uses its qualities. The most important thing is where he can exploit his qualities. He is a first-rate player.”
