‘I Think We Underestimated Lorient a Bit’ — Pereira on Takeaways from PSG’s 3-2 Loss Result

Paris Saint-Germain was unable to hold off Lorient as the reigning Ligue 1 champions came away with a 3-2 loss to the hosts. This result was surely a surprise to several players on the team, including midfielder Danilo Pereira.

The Portuguese midfielder earned a start for PSG in the team’s double-pivot setup. It was not his best showing for the side as miscommunication errors between the team’s defensive line and midfield duo ended up gifting Lorient several key goal-scoring chances.

Pereira did not see this result coming, especially as the French powerhouse faced off against a Lorient side that came into the match in last place in the league standings.

Pereira reflected (via CANAL+) on the result and just where he believed that the team needed to be better at.

“I think we underestimated Lorient a bit,” Pereira noted. “We should have played with more speed and intensity to win the duels and not to underestimate Lorient who believed in it until the end.”

PSG now looks ahead to an upcoming league fixture against Nimes Olympique. PSG is now in dire need of a winning streak considering the recent strong form from league title contenders Lille OSC and Olympique Lyonnais.
