‘I Think I’m Improving and Adapting to Ligue 1’ — Pembele Discusses Recent Performances for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain defender Timothee Pembele has continued to emerge as a prospect to watch at the club.

Under now-former PSG manager Thomas Tuchel, the French defender made four Ligue 1 appearances this season, and he scored his first career goal during the team’s recent Ligue 1 fixture against Strasbourg.

Pembele’s play as of late has put him up there among the rising prospects in the league. In speaking to PSG TV, Pembele touched on his recent performances for PSG and also the goals that he has set out for himself for this year.

“My mentality hasn’t really changed this year but footballing wise I think I’m improving and adapting to Ligue 1 and the intensity of the games,” Pembele said. “As for the rest, I need to stay the same and carry on improving because I’m only starting. The first thing I want from 2021 is to get past the Champions League round of 16 and that we get back to the top of the league quickly.

“I hope to get more playing time and work hard.”

Pembele will now have to earn playing time minutes under newly appointed PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine manager is well known for providing opportunities to young prospects, so Pembele may have a chance to regularly showcase his potential to the former Tottenham manager.
