Paris Saint-Germain is set for an away Ligue 1 fixture against Montpellier. The club is coming off of back-to-back winless results in league play, so Thomas Tuchel’s side will be aiming to get back to its winning ways.
Montpellier manager Michel Der Zakarian is expecting an in-form PSG to come into the fixture. PSG is just coming off of a dramatic UEFA Champions League group stage win against Manchester United, so the club has momentum heading into this fixture. Der Zakarian watched PSG’s performance and was generally pleased (via RMC Sport) to see the club come away with the win.
“PSG has regained some pep, we saw it last night,” Der Zakarian said. “Even though they were roughed up at times, they had a good game. I’m very happy that they won, it’s good for French football that the teams in Europe are doing well.”
As mentioned, PSG is coming off back-to-back winless Ligue 1 results that have shrunk its lead in the league standings to a mere two points over second place Lille. However, fifth place Montpellier currently is also just two points behind PSG, so a win in its upcoming fixture against Les Parisiens could possibly give the club a first place standing following matchday 13. Still, Der Zakarian knows that his side will need to be well-prepared for the key fixture.
“Whatever happens, we will have to be well organized and use the ball well, we will not have to return it too quickly,” Der Zakarian said. “We will have to pose them problems and put determination in everything we do.
“It’s up to us to do the right thing on the pitch, not to miss our match and especially to play it well. When PSG play as a team, they are difficult to maneuver.”
This will be a key fixture for both teams.
