Although Paris Saint-Germain finished first in their group en route to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, and despite this accomplishment, manager Thomas Tuchel remains on the hot seat.
In their loss to Olympique Lyonnais, the capital club relinquished first place atop the Ligue 1 table, and if Les Parisiens continue to trend downward, Tuchel might not last to see the end of his contract.
According to L’Equipe (via Canal Supporters), the PSG manager is on the tightrope after the loss against Lyon. If PSG falls to Lille OSC this upcoming weekend and loses two or all three fixtures to close out 2020, the German tactician’s short-term future could come into question over the winter break.
At a press conference, where Canal Supporters relayed his words, Tuchel discussed how he copes with having the pressures of managing PSG.
“We are used to it because it is normal in a club like this. Everyone thinks the pressure is enormous, but honestly, I work with a team and a squad. It’s the same for me. Our expectation of ourselves is the highest possible,” Tuchel said.
“It is not possible to feel pressure from outside or from other people. In the end, we are responsible. It is important that we stick with the things that we really believe in. We always stay positive. It is football, and it is a challenge.”
