Report: PSG Still Has No Plan on Signing Draxler to a Contract Extension Deal

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the season. And for the moment, PSG still plans on this season being the German’s last with the team, as the club remains set on not offering him a contract extension deal, according to a report from the German-based outlet Sport Bild (via CalcioMercato).

The report notes that Draxler can begin to explore his next possible destination as soon as next month. The German midfielder will be able to speak to other teams about a pre-contract agreement before his current contract with PSG expires.

It has been well documented that this season may very well end up being Draxler’s final one with the club. In an interview with Sport Bild over the recent summer transfer window, the midfielder made reference to his current contract situation, where he alluded to looking forward to next year’s summer transfer window, as he would be free to sign with any side without such a club having to post a fee to acquire him.

In essence, Draxler’s likely upcoming departure from PSG is more about when it will transpire, whether over the winter transfer window or summer one.

Draxler has not had much to go his way this season due to injuries. He has totaled for a mere nine appearances in all competitions, as a nagging hamstring injury kept him out from a bulk of games over the first half of the season.

It still remains to be seen whether Draxler may depart from PSG as soon as next month or over the summer window as a free agent.
