Crystal Palace’s Pursuit of PSG Attacker Fizzles Out Despite Interest – Report

Paris Saint-Germain has to offload players who have no future in their long-term plans. Julian Draxler had his name in the rumor mill on Friday, linking him to Crystal Palace.

Draxler spent the 2022–23 season on loan to SL Benfica and is under contract until 2024. So PSG will let him leave for whatever offer they receive to get most, if not all, of his salary off the books.

Nonetheless, if the German international were to leave PSG, it wouldn’t be for Crystal Palace. Sky Sports News’ Florian Plettenberg reports Draxler will not join the Premier League despite the club’s interest in the German attacker.

After losing Wilfried Zaha this summer, the Eagles could have taken a gamble on Draxler’s offensive abilities. The 30-year-old left the English club to join Süper Lig club Galatasaray. So Crystal Palace might need to improve their attack this late in the transfer window.

As for Draxler, he’s more than capable of playing an attacking midfield role and has experience out on the left wing. The English side is 11th in the Premier League table with three points after two matches.
