A few weeks ago, Neymar Jr. spoke into ESPN‘s microphone where the 28-year-old made it clear that he’d like to play with his former FC Barcelona teammate, Lionel Messi.
Soon after, plenty of journalists and pundits discussed whether the 33-year-old head to the French capital after this season when his contract expires with Barça. On the other hand, others pondered what would a potential arrival of Messi mean for the future of Kylian Mbappé.
Messi would arrive on a free transfer but command astronomical wages. As a result, some believe that the capital club won’t have enough to pay all three players, which would mean that Mbappé could be the odd man as he’d bring in the highest transfer fee from a potential sale.
Nonetheless, it reportedly seems as though Les Parisiens will be moving forward to bring Messi to Paris. According to football journalist Robin Bairner of Football Transfers, PSG has told their club stores to brace for the influx of business based on shirt sales that will come with Messi’s arrival.
If Messi were to depart from Barça, the two destinations would likely be either PSG or Manchester City FC. With Neymar probably pulling some strings, the arrival of Messi could be coming soon.
