Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the season, and he can already rule out one club that will not be pursuing him as Atalanta will not be able to afford him over either the upcoming winter or summer transfer window, according to a report from the Italian-based outlet CalcioMercato.
The report links the Serie A side to Draxler, as the club has an aim at being active over the upcoming winter transfer window. But Atalanta will not be able to haul in Draxler from PSG.
The report adds that the German midfielder currently makes €7 million euro gross per year, which is not within Atalanta’s budget for such a player. And while Draxler will be a free agent at the end of the season, such a potential free transfer move will not be occurring unless the midfielder takes on a pay cut deal.
PSG has been reported to not be interested in coming to terms on a contract extension deal with Draxler. Thus, the former FC Schalke talent can begin to speak to other clubs for a pre-contract agreement over the upcoming winter window. But on Draxler’s part, he has already alluded to looking forward to the summer window.
With Atalanta now reportedly out of the picture, Draxler remains on the hunt for his next possible club.
