Thomas Tuchel and Kylian Mbappe

Mbappé Sends Message to Tuchel After PSG Sack Manager

It’s safe to say that Kylian Mbappé and Thomas Tuchel didn’t always see eye-to-eye.

Of course, I’m referring to the multiple incidents last season when the manager subbed off the young superstar before the end of a match and the two proceeded to have a heated discussion on the sideline about the decision.

That all appears to be in the past now and on a day when the news broke that Tuchel would no longer be the manager of PSG, Mbappé took to Instagram to share a special message for his former boss.

“It is sadly the law of football. Nobody will forget your time here. You wrote a wonderful part of the club’s history and I say to you thank you coach.”

Classy.

As much as I wanted a change, Mbappé is right, no one will forget Tuchel was the first manager to lead PSG to the finals of the UEFA Champions League. His win percentage is among the highest of anyone who has led PSG and he won several domestic trophies in France.

This season has gotten off to a slow start and with Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wanting the job in Paris (where he was a player) and likely getting it, the club decided to make a move before Manchester United, Arsenal, and a host of other teams went after him.

From now until the end of the season, all eyes will be on Mbappé to see how he gets on with Pochettino. Will his scoring increase? Will he find more space on the pitch and return to the kind of form that made him the best young talent in world football? Only time will tell if Poch is the man to unlock Mbappé’s true greatness.
