Video: Liverpool Defender Lauds Neymar’s Play Style and Skill Set

Over the group stage of the 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League competition, Neymar and Paris Saint-Germain faced off against Liverpool twice in home and away fixtures. This pitted a highly anticipated encounter between Neymar and Liverpool’s daunted backline. The two sides split the wins over both contests, while Neymar had a pair of quality showings.

In an interview with Goal, Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold picked on how he would construct his ideal player. From stamina to speed, the English international attributed each given quality best to a player whom he has played with or against. When it came to picking the skill quality, he went with Neymar, whom he faced in the Champions League group stage two seasons ago. It is safe that say that Alexander-Arnold was thoroughly impressed with watching Neymar’s on-ball skill set during their meeting.

“I would probably have to say Neymar for skill,” Alexander-Arnold said. “But Neymar is really good at shifting your body weight. He gets you off balance, gets you shifting your hips and moving your feet, and then goes the other way. He’s gone.

“It’s hard to process how quickly those players move, and with all the feints and that, it’s really hard to play against.”

Many current and former players surely agree with Alexander-Arnold’s comments on Neymar’s on-ball prowess.
