Video: Keylor Navas on Being Captain, Changes on Defense, Their Upcoming Match Versus Leipzig, and Penalty Save Against Nantes

PSG reached their seventh consecutive victory in Ligue 1 when they defeated FC Nantes 3-0. With Marquinhos on the bench, Keylor Navas assumed the role of captain of the squad against Les Canaris.

The Costa Rica international played his role in the goal well as he made a significant penalty kick save to deny Nantes a potential goal as he helped pitch a clean sheet. After the match, Navas spoke to Canal Plus about the team’s performance and wearing the captain’s armband.

“Yes, today I was captain, I had confidence. I am happy to help my team. The level of play of the team? I think the team played a good game. We have many injuries. There have been colleagues who have had the opportunity to play, and they have done well. It was a united team. We are happy, and we hope to be able to recover teammates in the next matches to be stronger.”

He then spoke about the continuous changes in defense and what this implies.

“We are usually used to playing with teammates. I think those who entered were good. I talk a lot with them. It is important to communicate a lot. And in the end, during training, we also work for these situations. We are prepared for that.”

Navas then touched on the confrontation against Leipzig.

“We will always want to win Champions League games, no matter what rival we have. Leipzig is a great rival. We are happy to play against them, but all the games are different, and we will try to win both games.”

Finally, he spoke about his great penalty save.

“Yes, thank God I managed to stop him once more, I am very happy. I help the team. The goalkeeping coach helps me stop these kinds of situations. I am happy to be able to save the penalties.”
