Injuries just continue to form a dark cloud over Paris Saint-Germain’s ongoing season. PSG dealt with a serious injury crisis last month, and it has so far carried over into November.
During a pre-match press conference for PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Stade Rennais, manager Thomas Tuchel provided (via L’Equipe) multiple injury updates.
Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Mauro Icardi, Marco Verratti, and Julian Draxler were all already expected to miss the contest against Rennes due to their short-term injuries. However, Tuchel provided more unfortunate injury news, as he also ruled out Presnel Kimpembe and Keylor Navas from PSG’s upcoming clash with Rennes.
Kimpembe took on a hit to the fifth metatarsal of his foot during PSG’s recent UEFA Champions League contest against RB Leipzig. With Kimpembe out against Rennes, it remains to be seen whether he will be fit to feature for the French national team in its upcoming international fixtures.
Navas’ injury is not deemed to be as serious as Kimpembe’s ailment. Navas is currently dealing with a minor muscle injury. He is expected to recover from this short-term injury just in time for PSG’s Ligue 1 fixture against AS Monaco upon return from the upcoming international break.
With these seven regular starters currently out of action, Tuchel will once again have to shuffle his starting 11 for a pivotal league fixture.
