Born in Beaumont-sur-Oise, France, to a Congolese father and Afro-Haitian mother, Kimpembe began his development with AS Éragny before joining PSG’s academy in 2005. After gradually rising through the youth ranks, Kimpembe managed to achieve something that countless talented PSG youth talents like Mike Maignan, Chris Mavinga, and Xavi Simons failed to do: become a key figure in the first team. Across his 20 years at the Parc de Princes, Kimpembe made 241 appearances for Les Parisiens, 31 of those with the captain’s armband, and won eight Ligue 1 titles, seven Coupe de France titles, six Trophée des Champions titles, and the club’s maiden UEFA Champions League title.
Today, we’re taking a look at the moments that defined Kimpembe’s time at PSG.
Debut vs. Lens
After nearly a decade in the academy, Kimpembe made his professional debut for Paris Saint-Germain on 17 October 2014, replacing Thiago Motta in the 76th minute of a 3-1 win between a 10-man PSG side and a 9-man Lens side. Little did he know it, but he would have to wait another 13 months before making his second appearance for his boyhood club, playing nine times across all competitions in 2015-16. However, the summer of 2016 would bring about improved fortunes for Kimpembe.
