Report: Leonardo Considers Kean a ‘Forward of the Future’

Moise Kean has already surpassed early expectations with Paris Saint-Germain this season. With goals in UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 play, he is playing up to his potential as a goal-scoring forward. But for PSG sporting director Leonardo, Kean’s success this season is not a surprise to him.

CalcioMercato‘s Fabrizio Romano chronicled Kean’s current situation at PSG. Romano noted that while Leonardo held the title of sporting director of AC Milan, he made an attempt to sign Kean, but Juventus blocked the deal in the end. Leonardo considers Kean as a ‘forward of the future.’

Romano also added that Juventus considered bringing back Kean over the recent summer transfer window but was unable to due to economic reasons. This opened the door for PSG to swoop in and sign the Italian forward from Everton on a season-long loan deal. But PSG does not want to simply have this stint with Kean as a mere loan move. The club will make an attempt to sign Kean on a permanent transfer deal. However, this may be complicated as Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti wants the forward back next season.

PSG could very well be in a transfer battle with Juventus for Kean’s signature next season while Ancelotti may be looming to block any such deal.
