Axel Disasi Discusses Having To Defend PSG’s Star Players and the Special Feeling He Gets Facing His Hometown Club

AS Monaco will host Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade Louis, but before the match takes place, defender Axel Disasi spoke to the media ahead of their fixture against the capital club.

One of the first questions that Disasi answered are concerns over having to defend players such as Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé. As of now, they will potentially be in the starting eleven to knock off some rust ahead of their UEFA Champions League matchup against RB Leipzig. Nonetheless, Disasi expects to hold his own against the two capital club superstars.

“It’s true that they are very great players, so for the central defender that I am, it is obvious that facing them is a satisfaction. We want to play these kinds of matches. Even if, in general, we want to give the maximum against all teams, this is all the more true when we face great players like Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.”

Next, the 22-year-old touched on the absentees that Les Parisiens will have and whether or not it provides Monaco with a puncher’s chance to walk away with a win.

Finally, with Disasi being from Gonesse, a north-eastern suburb of Paris, a reporter asked him whether or not facing PSG has any particular feeling for him, which it is like any other Parisien footballer would answer when facing their hometown club.

“Being from the Paris region, it’s sure to special to find Paris Saint-Germain, whom I already faced in the lower echelons, when I was in training. So yes, indeed, it is a little different time for me,” Disasi said.
