Report: Cavani Turned Down a Second Approach From Inter Miami

Former Paris Saint-Germain forward and current free agent Edinson Cavani has no immediate plans to join Major League Soccer, as he turned down yet another approach from Inter Miami, according to a report from Le10Sport.

The report mentions that Inter returned a second time to convince Cavani to join the new MLS franchise. But once again, Cavani turned down the club’s approach. Thus, he remains a free agent.

As mentioned, this is not the first time that Inter Miami has shown interest in signing Cavani. Inter pushed to sign Cavani in July, but the Uruguayan talent had no interest in jump-starting contract talks with the MLS side due to his ambition to remain in Europe.

It is unclear just when Inter approached Cavani for the second time to seek his interest in signing with the club. This is key as the club recently filled its third and final designated player spot when it signed Gonzalo Higuain via a free transfer deal. Considering Cavani’s high wage demands, a deal between Inter and the forward would have only been possible had there been an open DP spot still available.

Cavani could still join MLS down the line, but for now, he still aims to play for a European side.
