Le Havre Executive Calls PSG the ‘Most Beautiful Club in France’

Ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s exhibition match against Le Havre at the Stade Océane on Sunday, their general manager heaped praise upon the Ligue 1 champions.

In an interview with Le Parisien, Pierre Wantiez answered questions about the upcoming friendly, which will be the first opened to the public in Western Europe since last March, including what it means for Le Havre to host a club as big as PSG during this difficult time in history.

“For the public and for local players it’s great. In a lifetime we don’t always play PSG. We sometimes never play PSG! I do not want to fuel the controversies in Paris–province but, today, it is the most beautiful club in France, the most beautiful team. I know people who are not crazy about football but who have found my number because…Marquinhos, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé. Because PSG, quite simply.”

After Sunday, PSG will only have two matches to prepare for their two domestic cup finals against AS Saint-Étienne and Olympique Lyonnais at the end of the month. Then, the UEFA Champions League resumes in August.

The historical nature of the match against Le Havre is important but for manager Thomas Tuchel and the players, this is a business trip with the number one priority being match fitness and finding their rhythm after being away from the game for months due to the coronavirus.
