Edinson Cavani will not return to Paris Saint-Germain for the 2020-21 season as confirmed by the club’s sporting director on Saturday.
Cavani, whose contract expires on June 30, is PSG’s all-time leading scorer with 200 goals in 301 appearances. This season, El Matador has only scored seven goals in 22 appearances but that can be attributed to several injuries and the signing of Mauro Icardi who replaced Cavani for much of the first half of the season.
With the Coupe de France final, Coupe de la Ligue final, and the UEFA Champions League set to resume in late July and August, there’s still a chance for Cavani to represent Les Parisiens once he signs a temporary extension through the end of August.
For now, though, let’s take a look back at the 2019-20 Ligue 1 season and enjoy Cavani doing what he does best.
