‘They Have No Money to Invest in Mbappé and Neymar’ – A Dose of Reality for Barcelona and Real Madrid

Every transfer window that comes up, Paris Saint-Germain deals with the transfer “rumors” of a potential departure of either Neymar Jr., Mbappé, or both.

A source close to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has gone on record to say that “Come wind, snow or rain, Mbappé will stay” with PSG.

Furthermore, it seems that Leandro Paredes, who officially has become Neymar’s bodyguard on the pitch, believes that the Brazilian will continue his stay with Les Parisians.

However, even when this information, rumors continue to surface. Even our own founder, Ed, is offering up potential swap deals like this one that would send Mbappé to Liverpool for Trent Alexander-Arnold!

Despite all these rumors, French football pundit Pierre Ménès said on the Canal Football Club Twitter account (via Paris Team) that no one can afford these two players, not even Real Madrid or FC Barcelona.

“The clubs lost a lot of money. Even if Real and Barça had no money before the COVID crisis. Real spent 350 million euros in the last transfer window. Bewildered people who think they have a secret kitty,” Ménès said. “They want to rebuild their stadium; it will cost them money. So they have no money to invest in Mbappé and Neymar. Neymar at Barça, it’s impossible, because Barça has no money.”

To round out his conversation, the pundit had some not so kind words on the future of striker Edinson Cavani.

“As for Cavani, he is realizing that if he wants to make a lot of money, PSG is the place to stay,” Ménès said. “Never been a fan of Cavani, let alone in two years, it is very markedly down. I think it would be a bad idea for PSG to keep Cavani. You can’t run a club only with feelings.”

  1. Does the fact that Barcelona and Real Madrid don’t have the money to buy Neymar and Mbappe make PSG a more respected team? The way these players were pick up is at least embarrassing! That is a fact! But almost always the money counts first, honor the second!

      1. I’m sure you know but it will be my pleasure!
“PSG are owned by Qatar Sports Investment (QSI), which is under control of the Qatari royal family, and headed by this man, Nasser El Khelaifi.
PSG could not possibly pay €222Mn to Barca + Neymar’s father’s bonus + Neymar’s salary without incurring the wrath of the FFP, so here’s what they did.
Step 1: Convince Neymar to join PSG. This was one of the easiest things to do, since they had Dani Alves and other brazilians to do the talking.
Step 2: Make Neymar the brand ambassador for the Qatar World Cup 2022. With all the controversy its been getting, the Qatar WC 2022 could use some positive reviews.
Step 3: Pay Neymar to become the ambassador. How much you ask? somewhere around €222Mn.
Step 4: Neymar goes to Barcelona, pays them the money and essentially buys out his contract. He also waits till a stipulated date, so Barcelona are forced to pay his father a bonus for the previous contract.
Step 5: Neymar is now a free agent, and can sign for PSG.
Neymar is effectively paying his own release clause, and he is no longer a Barcelona player!”
