Report: PSG Interested in AC Milan Goalkeeper

Keylor Navas will be Paris Saint-Germain’s starting goalkeeper next season. That much we know. Who will back up the 33-year-old shot-stopper is very much in question.

One possible option could be Pepe Reina. According to L’Equipe, the former Liverpool FC man who now plays for AC Milan but spent the last season on loan at Aston Villa is of interest to PSG sporting director, Leonardo.

The report indicated that Reina’s age, 37, wouldn’t be an issue especially considering Gianluigi Buffon spent a season in the French capital while in his 40s.

If Reina is brought to PSG to be the number two option behind Navas, that would likely mean that Alphonse Areola, who is on loan at Real Madrid, would be sent out on loan this summer or sold entirely.

With Milan wanting to offload Gianluigi Donnarumma as he’s about to enter the last year of his contract, L’Equipe believes the Frenchman could be sent to the Serie A club in exchange for Reina.

Sergio Rico is expected to return to Sevilla FC after his season-long loan in Paris leaving Marcin Bulka and Garissone Innocent to battle it out for the third option behind Navas and whoever the backup ultimately turns out to be.

There’s a lot of smoke between PSG and Milan and it certainly seems like we will see a transfer between the clubs will go down. Leonardo was the sporting director there before joining PSG last summer and is very familiar with their squad. Whether it’s Reina or Théo Hernandez, or someone else, there’s definitely something brewing between the two clubs.
