Report: No Contract Offer Yet For Silva

Recently, Thiago Silva’s wife, Isabelle Silva, spoke with Le Parisien about her husband’s future with Paris Saint-Germain. It seems as though everyone in the 35-year-old’s camp wants to see a contract extension occur.

Furthermore, there was a report from Brazilian journalist Isabela Pagliari last month that both sides were in the beginning stages of a possible extension. However, it seems as though the coronavirus has put a halt to the discussions because of the financial fallout.

Pagliari had a follow up to her report from last month stating on Europe 1 (via Paris Team) that there’s no official contract from Les Parisiens to their current captain.

“I know that with the crisis of the coronavirus pandemic that Paris has decided to think about an extension of Thiago Silva. There is an interest in Paris Saint-Germain, but I don’t know how far we are and how something has changed,” Pagliari said. “But this is just an interest, there was no offer, and there is no offer. For his part, Tiago wants to stay at PSG and stay in Europe, but for the moment, his situation is unclear.”

PSG’s pockets are hurting from the loss of revenue from the pandemic and the club still needs to act responsibly with their money. Silva’s wages will come down, but how much and the length of the contract remains a mystery.

If both sides agree on a new deal, it will likely come once the 2019-20 season is over, and the capital club can understand what wages they can hand out to incoming and potentially returning players.
