Report: A Possible Transfer Deal Between Rivals Marseille and PSG

It’s not often that deals between rivals Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille occur. However, it seems as though Leonardo, the capital club’s sporting director, will buck the trend.

According to L’Equipe (via Foot Mercato), Les Parisiens are showing interest in center-back Boubacar Kamara.

The central defense position isn’t one that is high on the priority list for Leonardo, but if contract extension talks with Thiago Silva go south, then PSG could look elsewhere. Nonetheless, there’s an option for Les Parisiens to extend their captain and still purchase Kamara.

This season, the 20-year-old is not only playing as a central defender, but he’s also moved up the pitch to play in the midfield for Marseille as Marquinhos has done for PSG. Also, at 6’0″, Kamara would be the tall midfielder that Leonardo is looking for this summer transfer window.

When it comes to the cost, Transfermarkt sets Kamara’s value at €27 million, and it’s a reasonable price to pay for the young France international. Marseille have qualified for the UEFA Champions League, so it will be interesting to see if these two rivals can sit down as the business table and discuss a potential transfer.
