PSG to Keep Icardi But They Want Inter Milan to Lower €70M Price Tag

Mauro Icardi may prefer to live in Italy but the most realistic place for him to play his football is at Paris Saint-Germain.

According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sempre Inter), the French champions plan to retain Icardi after his season-long loan expires but the Italian club is unwilling to negotiate with PSG on the €70 million option to buy fee that was included in the loan.

Paris expects significant losses due to the coronavirus and it’s understandable that they would want to do everything possible to lower Icardi’s cost. They also know that Inter does not want him back as his wages would be catastrophic for them financially and he’s not necessarily what you would call a fan favorite either.

With both sides seemingly wanting the same thing (Icardi to stay in Paris), the report out of Italy hinted that PSG and Inter could reach a new agreement that would include Julian Draxler and cash for Icardi.

That deal does make sense for all parties but only if Icardi truly wants to dedicate himself to the PSG project and not become a distraction in the locker room.
