Mauro Icardi is a Paris Saint-Germain player for now but there’s constant speculation about his future and whether it lies in the French capital or elsewhere.
A rumor that has picked up steam recently is one that would see PSG pass on Icardi’s €70 million option to buy and allow him to return to Inter Milan who would like to get rid of him as soon as possible for financial reasons. From there, Inter would send Icardi to Arsenal FC in exchange for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Wanda Icardi is the wife of Mauro and she’s also his agent, so when she posted a recent Instagram Story photo of her son wearing an Arsenal kit for her 6.5 million followers to see, it led to speculation that she was sending a message about where her “client” would like to play his football next season.

Of course, it could simply be a coincidence. The Arsenal kit the kid is wearing isn’t even the most recent version so it’s not like they ran out and bought something for him to wear to send a message.
Aside from the photo, a swap deal does seem possible. Aubameyang is entering the final year of his contract and hasn’t extended with the Gunners as of yet. They would be keen to cash in on the striker after a great season that saw him score 20 goals in 32 appearances and as I mentioned earlier, Inter wants to sell Icardi as soon as possible if he does return from Paris.
PSG will have a large say in what happens here but given Icardi’s track record of being a distraction, I would have to imagine that if he makes it clear he doesn’t want to play his football at the Parc des Princes, that PSG would let his loan expire and let Inter Milan deal with the situation.
