Company Rewards PSG For Ligue 1 Triumph With 24k Gold iPhone Cases

In American sports, championship-winning teams are rewarded with diamond-encrusted rings to commemorate their accomplishment. For Paris Saint-Germain’s recent Ligue 1 championship, they’ll receive something slightly more practical.

iDesign Gold posted on their Instagram account that every PSG player will receive a 24k gold iPhone case that features their name, number, and Ligue 1 Champions 2020 logo.

This isn’t the first time the company has offered title-winning teams golden cellular devices. Last season, Liverpool FC received 24k iPhone X’s after winning their sixth UEFA Champions League.

The lavish gift might be slightly awkward considering the season was canceled prematurely due to the coronavirus. Even Ander Herrera, who has never won a league title in his career, said he didn’t celebrate much because he prefers to win on the pitch.

I am curious about whether or not players who have Android phones will be given a golden case the fits their device. It’s a bold move to assume all of the players use iPhones.

While the 2019-20 Ligue 1 season is over, PSG can add a Champions League title (and more gold accessories?) when the competition resumes in August most likely. They’re currently into the quarter-finals and will have to wait until later this summer to find out who their opponent will be.
