Video: Lyon Scores Comical Own-Goal to Put PSG Up 3-0

I think it’s safe to say that this was not in Olympique Lyonnais manager Rudi Garcia’s halftime talk.

Two minutes after resuming play and down 2-0, Lyon found themselves in trouble with Kylian Mbappé dangerously sprinting down the sideline. His pass to Julian Draxler in space nearly led to a goal but the German’s touch-pass to Mauro Icardi in the box was intercepted and nearly put out of play behind the goal.

With Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes out of position, Draxler retrieved the ball and attempted to find Icardi once more.

His pass was broken up again but this time, Fernando Marçal absolutely smashed his clearance into the back of his own net to put PSG up 3-0.

Draxler’s effort for the own-goal was his main contribution in the game after receiving a somewhat surprise start from manager Thomas Tuchel.
