Official Lineup: Mbappé Starts at Striker; Cavani on the Bench

Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel surprised many with his starting lineup against Montpellier HSC.

The German went away from the 4-4-2 formation that he had deployed in recent weeks and appears to have opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation with Kylian Mbappé replacing Mauro Icardi at the striker position.

Angel Di Maria and Pablo Sarabia start on the wings and Neymar Jr. drops into the center-forward position and will likely link up with Mbappé early and often.

In the midfield, Idrissa Gueye and Marco Verratti will be tasked with controlling the middle of the park in front of a somewhat makeshift backline.

Layvin Kurzawa and Thomas Meunier are the full-backs with both Juan Bernat and Colin Dagba out injured. Presnel Kimpembe is tonight’s captain and he lines up next to 17-year-old Tanguy Kouassi at center-back. Keylor Navas gets the start in goal.

PSG defeated Montpellier by a score of 3-1 at the Stade de la Mosson last December, so the visitors will be looking for a bit of revenge. Keep an eye on Andy Delort. The Algerian got into an argument with Neymar in the tunnel after the last meeting and the two will likely clash again at some point.
