Video: Magnifiqué Mbappé Pulls Off Back-heel Pass That Leads to Saint-Étienne Own-Goal

Just when you think you’ve seen it all from Kylian Mbappé he goes ahead and pulls something like this off.

In the 43rd minute, Angel Di Maria played a simple pass to Mbappé who returned the favor with a perfectly placed back-heel pass as the Argentine made a run into the box.

Then, Di Maria’s cross in front of goal played pinball between Saint-Étienne defenders before the ball finally hit the goalkeeper and came to a rest in the back of the net.

The goal is about as fluky as it gets but the entire move was set up by Mbappé’s creativity. While some may think he’s simply a “pace merchant,” those who watch him consistently will tell you that he’s so much more and this pass is evidence of that.

The own-goal put PSG up 3-0 over Les Verts. Mauro Icardi scored PSG’s first on the night after two minutes and Neymar scored in the 39th minute.

A win will see PSG reach the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue and it certainly appears they’re on their way.
