Idrissa Gueye Makes Africa’s Finest Starting Eleven

As a result of having started in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue against AS Saint-Étienne on Wednesday, Idrissa Gueye was unable to attend the 2019 CAF Awards in Hurghada, Egypt.

The significant award of the event is the African Ballon d’Or, which would go to Gueye’s fellow Sengalese teammate, Sadio Mané of Liverpool FC. As for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, the 30-year-old wasn’t up for any awards, but he did make Africa’s Finest XI for 2019.

Gueye is part of an elite starting eleven, which includes Mané, Mohamed Salah, and former PSG defender Serge Aurier.

In his first season with the capital club, Gueye has appeared in 17 matches in all competitions, scoring one goal and two assists.

Still, more importantly, Gueye has brought stability to the midfield, which has improved since last season. Furthermore, if the Senegal international continues his form with PSG, expect him to make Africa’s Finest XI again for 2020.
