Manchester City players are likely having nightmares about Kylian Mbappe after the former Paris Saint-Germain standout scored a hat trick in their UEFA Champions League knockout round play-off return leg by the 61st minute.

The three goals from Mbappe were all Real Madrid needed to advance past Manchester City as the contest ended 3-1 (6-3 on aggregate).

Mbappe opened the scoring in the third minute after Raul Asencio played a long ball to him, and Rúben Dias misjudged his challenge. Mbappe took full advantage, lobbing Ederson, who had no chance to stop it.

His second goal came in the 33rd minute, starting with a long pass from Aurelien Tchouameni to Rodrygo, who controlled it expertly. Rodrygo then passed to Jude Bellingham, who found Vinicius.

Vinicius cut it back to Rodrygo, and he slid the ball to Mbappe. The forward quickly moved inside the box, sent Josko Gvardiol to the ground and finished from close range.

Mbappe completed his hat trick early in the second half, capping off a fantastic performance. Off a set piece, he received the ball on the right, cut inside, faked out Phil Foden with a quick step-over, and fired a low shot with his left foot.

OptaJean pointed out that at just 26 years and 61 days old, Mbappe has already been directly involved in 500 goals across all competitions for both club and country (358 goals and 142 assists).

Many of those goal involvements came at PSG, where he’s the club’s all-time leading goal-scorer at 256 goals and recorded 109 assists during his eight years in the French capital.
