In September, CaughtOffside reported that Chelsea, Tottenham, and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres.

Tottenham appears to be leading the race right now, per the report. Meanwhile Chelsea sees Gyökeres as more of a backup option as they prioritize Victor Osimhen. Chelsea plans to potentially bid in January or next summer.

PSG is also monitoring Gyökeres, supported by a strong relationship with Sporting. However, any transfer for the Parisian club would likely depend on whether they decide to part with either Gonçalo Ramos or Randal Kolo Muani at the end of the season, a decision still up in the air.

Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sports Germany recently revealed that while Gyökeres has a €100 million release clause, there’s an agreement allowing him to leave Sporting next summer for around €60 million to €70 million.

TEAMTalk reported on Friday that Gyökeres is now a prime target for Arsenal as well. Manchester United’s recent hiring of Sporting CP’s manager has changed the situation significantly, and the Gunners might wait until the end of the season before committing to the £84 million investment needed to bring him to England.

With Manchester United appointing Ruben Amorim as their manager, there’s speculation that the former Sporting boss will want a couple of his players from the Portuguese side once the January window opens. However, he cleared that speculation up rather quickly.

“Gyokeres costs €100m (£83.7m) and it’s very difficult,” Amorim said (h/t TEAMTalk). “I’m not going to pick up any Sporting player in January.”

Moreover, the Swedish striker was also recently asked about joining the Red Devils to reunite with his former manager.

“Going with Amorim to Manchester United? I don’t know,” Gyokeres replied when asked about the possibility of joining Amorim following his four-goal display against Estrela on Friday night.

“I’m here. As you can see, I enjoy it at Sporting. It’s nothing I really think about. I’m sad about him [Amorim] leaving. We wish him all the best.”
