Paris Saint-Germain loanee Xavi Simons went on loan this past summer for a second straight season with RB Leipzig. Nonetheless, it was a short-term solution to the situation, and it’s likely that, in 2025, there will be a long-term fix.

The 21-year-old was linked with moves to big clubs like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Manchester United throughout the summer. However, new suitors are surfacing for the player.

Football Insider reported on Sunday, citing sources, that Manchester City have set their sights on signing Simons as a long-term successor to Kevin de Bruyne.

De Bruyne’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, marking the end of a decade with Manchester City, where he’s won six Premier League titles and a Champions League.

Additionally, the report reveals that the Dutch international is a priority target for Pep Guardiola’s side, but they will face stiff competition from Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

He scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists, which caught the attention of several Premier League clubs. This season, Simons has appeared in four matches across all competitions, scoring one goal and registering one assist.
