Xavi Simons will reportedly be leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer and it’s not for another loan stint as this move could become permanent in 2025. Once the Netherlands was eliminated from UEFA Euro 2024, it was a matter of time before news in the Simons file surfaced.
Last month, L’Equipe reported that Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Manchester City have all contacted PSG to explore the possibility of signing Simons this summer.
A few days ago, a report revealed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is considering a loan move for Simons while Bayern Munich have been aggressively pushing to land the 21-year-old who spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig.
Transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano reported this weekend that PSG and Xavi Simons are 99 percent certain to part ways: he has chosen to leave on loan this summer and is likely to depart permanently from the Parisians in 2025.
With Simons apparently keen on a move away from this summer, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson recommends that the reigning Ligue 1 champions secure a player in a deal along with a fee.
“If a deal was to be done between PSG and Bayern, I think it would have to include at least one player or there’d have to be some sort of agreement for one of the Bayern players may be separate to the agreement,” Johnson said on a recent episode of PSG Talking. “So PSG essentially get money and a player or two.”
During his loan spell at RB Leipzig, Simons made a significant impact, featuring in 43 matches across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and registering 15 assists.
