Former Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé officially joined Real Madrid on Monday. The French star will arrive as a free agent and has signed a five-year contract with the Spanish giants.
However, the 25-year-old has one issue to close with PSG before focusing on his new chapter in the Spanish capital. According to L’Equipe, PSG have decided to withhold Mbappé’s April salary and a bonus owed to him from February.
Now, they’ve announced that they won’t be paying his May salary either, and June’s payment will probably also not be made. The club is aiming to recoup approximately €80 million from Mbappé’s departure.
It’s anticipated that they’ll recover a sum close to that amount, given that PSG paid Mbappé the total €80 million loyalty bonus back in February, which he had forfeited the previous summer.
The Ligue 1 champions view this €80 million figure as the benchmark for the “gentleman’s agreement” between them and Mbappé last summer, facilitating his reinstatement with the first team.

PSG is looking to include one last detail in the contract, but Mbappé’s team is insisting on receiving monthly wages and the February bonus, even after he already received the €80 million loyalty bonus he waived last summer.
If they can’t reach an agreement, the Football League’s legal committee might have to settle the matter.
