On Tuesday, it was reported that Manchester United made an offer for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. However, the Red Devils weren’t only discussing the 23-year-old.
According to Loïc Tanzi from L’Equipe, PSG have rejected Manchester United’s initial offer for Ugarte, deeming it insufficient. The specific amount hasn’t been revealed, but the capital club are open to negotiating.
Furthermore, Premier League and Bundesliga teams have also shown interest in Ugarte. Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reported that the expectation is for Ugarte to have the possibility to leave PSG this summer.
Romano also reports that while Manchester United and PSG discussed Ugarte, he wasn’t the only player the two sides talked about.
“As of today, what I’m hearing is that Manchester United didn’t present an official bid to PSG for Manuel Ugarte,” Romano said. “It was a direct contact between Manchester United and PSG. The relationship is very good, and they discussed several players, Ugarte was one of them.”

Ugarte made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Parisians last season, registering three assists. In May, Ugarte spoke about his future and noted his desire to stay. It will be interesting to see whether anything has changed from the player’s perspective to make him rethink his future.
