French President to Meet Real Madrid Chief in Hopes of Facilitating PSG Star’s Participation in Paris Olympics

A few days ago, Emmanuel Macron basically confirmed Kylian Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid while also pleading with the club to let the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner participate in the Olympics.

The French President is eager for the country’s top player to represent Les Bleus in the upcoming Paris Games this summer. Moreover, Macron is taking matters into his own hands to ensure the soon-to-be former Paris Saint-Germain star is playing to win a gold medal.

According to RMC Sport, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will attend a gathering at the Elysée Palace on Tuesday with Macron to celebrate FIFA’s 120th anniversary.

Since Real Madrid is one of FIFA’s founding clubs, Perez and Macron will have the chance to meet and talk. Macron plans to urge Perez to release Mbappé for the Olympic Games, even if it means Mbappé missing Real Madrid’s American tour scheduled at the same time.

Los Blancos have already informed the French Football Federation that it doesn’t intend to release its French players if they are called up. It will be interesting to see if these discussions change anything.
